If there is one thing people constantly struggle with, it has to be with their resumes and for very good reason. That piece of paper could very well mean the difference between landing a job and pounding the pavements looking for more vacancies. The resume is not something you play around with and if you happen to be struggling with your own resume, you will need some tips from the experts.   • The first thing you need to do is list whatever you need to place in your resume. If you have no clue where to start, perhaps you will want to check templates online as these will tell you what goes where and you can easily find a template that suits your purposes.
  • Many times, you will be asked to stick to a few basic rules and you can stick with them when you build a resume but this doesn’t mean you cannot bend them a little. Some instructions will tell you never to use color on your resume but you can. Just do so wisely and it can yield the best results. Others will tell you to put an objective but really, you can skip this as employers know your objective is to land a job. Others will tell you that two pages are okay when you build a resume but it is best to stick to once a resume

  • To add experience without adding another page, you have to tell a narrative that is applicable to the job you want. For instance, if you want to apply for a job that is related to social media, you do not just add your social media experience to your resume but you remove others that do not relate to social media. Sure, put in your GPA and the Ivy League school you attended but leave off your janitorial experience or your real estate record. It is important to build a resume to fit the job you want to apply for and hope to get.


  • Focus in the more relevant jobs you have held or the newest ones. If the old jobs you listed aren’t relevant to the job you want, list only the newest job you had. However, if an older job is more relevant, keep that and place the newest job second on the list.
  • If it just so happens that your education isn’t the most impressive portion of your resume, keep information about it as short and as classy as possible. You do not have to remove it entirely but cut it back a bit to leave room for more relevant information.
